Slow afternoon at work...

...and I'm thinking about how I'm going to spend my nights at home this week. Thanks for the idea, Mum!

It's crunch time!

I'm getting ready to come home (leaving in less than 36 hours!) which entails packing, cleaning, working, teaching, and taking care of a lot of outstanding responsibilities that I don't want to worry about while I'm away. But I've got priorities! I found the following on the Northwest website tonight and am wondering if should dare bring my nice (small) knitting scissors with me on the plane...

"As of December 22, 2005 scissors with a cutting edge of four inches or less and tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches and pliers smaller than seven inches will be permitted in passenger carry-on bags."

It would appear that my small knitting scissors could make the in-cabin flight, but I've already lost one pair of scissors this year (tested bringing my haircutting scissors when I went to HK but was shut down and had to throw them away at the airport). Anyone bring small scissors like this on an international flight recently?

I could always check them, but what if I make TONS of knitting progress on that long, long flight and want to start a second legwarmer? (new project, long story). Decisions!

Either way, I'm headed straight for "the heartland" (as someone would put it) this week and despite all the stress of leaving and my nagging cough, I am SOOOOOOO excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Knitting, good for the brain!

I felt VERY smart when I read this today. That's one word down, 364 to learn this year.

The big dance is tomorrow and I've got to run to practice, so no knitting post today. I did, however, start a stash sweater, so I have more than one thing to be excited about! And I promise, I will start fair isle glove #2 soon. Thanks for all the encouragement!

Word Verification

I am very frustrated with these Blogger and Typepad word verification systems lately. I can't be the only person that has trouble with them. Especially the ones on the stony-looking background are downright illegible. It's like the computer is TRYING to trick me. Is this really the only way to weed out the humans from the robots? There's got to be a better way!!

feeling of the moment

"Draw a crazy picture, write a nutty poem, sing a mumble-gumble song, whistle through your comb. Do a loony-goony dance 'cross the kitchen floor, put something silly in the world that ain't been there before."
