On socks and blogging
A finished object that fits!
I love my finished bright lite socks and would knit them again and again if I had the yarn (must go double check in my stash). The colors, the stripes, and the speed with which I could finish a sock on #3 dpns all added to my enjoyment of this project. They're being carefully packed away for my upcoming move and this year's winter (come soon!).
Recently, I've taken a hit in my internet-surfing, blog-reading free time. I hate to admit it, but I used to do most of my blog surfing and posting, for that matter, at work. My job was not that taxing and I had a lot of down time. But in anticipation of the end of this work year (end of July) and the beginning of the new one (August) things have suddenly picked up to hyper speed. Not only am I always busy at work, but my Saturday morning blog reading time is often dedicated to work-related emails. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about work. I love my job, and I am very excited about my new job in August. But seriously, how do all you full-time, "real" job-workers do it?
In the recent months I have let not only my posts, but the friendships I have made through my blog slip with the exception of one (hi, Mom!). I am still lurking on a lot of blogs, skimming while I gulp my morning coffee or at other bad times when I never comment, which I feel bad about. I don't feel a particular need to apologize for lack of posting, but I do want to take more time to stay in better touch with the bloggers that I still do love to read. So if you're still out there, HI! I'm still in the neighborhood and from now on I'm making an effort to be a little more vocal. That, or I might just keep following your progress and queue over on ravelry. :)

glad you managed to finish something that you'll love and wear!
it was tough fitting in blog reading back when i had a full-time job. whenever i would eat at my desk (which was typical given the amount of work to be done and the fact that i had an office) i would take 30 minutes to surf and comment. i would also be sure to get enough done so that i could leave work at work and never bring it home. that's not always possible with every job, though! anyway, just want to say that i know what you're going through. things will change though!

Hi Molly !
I discovered your blog for quite short ago, and as it was completely new for me, I though it was really full of many beautiful things, so that I try to come again more or less regularly. I feel the same as you when I'm reading crafts blogs : author are mothers of three, work at full time, have a house as big as fime times mine, and every singl eday, they present a new home-sewn shirt, a new home-knitted sweater ! What's their secret ?
I opened my own blog last week, and I can say that it is really difficult to keep on writing as often as I would want to...
So, don't worry about that, the most faithful ones will always come again !
(and by the way : I am waiting for winter to come soon too, 'cause it's a little bit frustrating not to be able to wear the last hand-knitted things I've done...)

pretty socks!
don't fret about bloggy absences. I think there's a real ebb and flow to blogging and blog-reading, right? :)

We read blogs while at work (ssshhhhh). Good luck on your new job. Will you still be teaching?

huh... real jobs :) yeah, I read a lot of blogs at work, but I manage to multitask and get some other things done too. but, I agree, it is really hard. Like Ann said above, there is a real ebb and flow to blogs and blog-reading. We are in an ebb season right now because of summer and because of all of the other fun things on the internet.
Love the socks :)
