Help! I need somebody...

Hello, faithful readers!

Take a look--my technical support came through for me* in an extremely timely fashion and comments are back up and running on the blog! I'm still getting some spam though, so I am fiddling with the settings today. Won't you help me test it? If you read this and have a chance to comment, leave me something below so I can monitor and make sure that useful messages aren't being junked. When I get hundreds of spam messages a day, comments from real bloggers would be hard to save from my junk folder.

I've been out of the loop for a while but I am looking forward to using the long days of summer vacation to get back in the swing of things here. If it strikes your fancy, comment with a link to something exciting going on in blogland that I might have missed, or a new blogger that has caught your eye. If that's too much, just say hi (especially if you've never commented before). Thanks for the help!!

*Mum, my webcam is finally fixed, too!!

Closed for Comments

The windows and doors are all being boarded up here on my blog until I can get all my recent spam attacks under control. 259 comments in one night was just too good to be true. I am planning to use Akismet but the installation instructions are Greek to me! The life of my blog is at the mercy of someone more computer savvy than, and unfortunately just as busy as, I.

I hope everyone is staying cool and making the most of your summers. Hopefully I"ll be back in action soon!

Progress!

cashlainesweater.jpg

Well, it's been more than two weeks since I took this picture with every intention of posting it on the blog. But I have hardly had the time for blogging lately as I have been busy with work, emails, a weekend trip to Shikoku for a soccer tournament, a weekend at my friend's place near the beach and a business trip to Tokyo, among other things. It's been such a busy month that I can't believe it's nearly over.

Anyway, this is the progress picture I took of my Cash Laine sweater at the beginning of June when I was still in the habit of knitting regularly. I had to lay it out on my old Hourglass because i realized that when I was about to cast on for the second sleeve, I only had three skeins of yarn left. How did that happen? I definitely need two skeins to knit the sleeve. Then there is still a decent half-skein hanging off the body, plus a smidge at the top of my finished sleeve which ideally means there will be a smidge from the top of the second sleeve as well. But that yoke is wiiiide.

WIll I actually be able to make the slightly smaller neckline that I dreamed of with this sweater?* It's not looking good. But you can never be too sure, and if I made it this far, what's a few more rows?

Too tired to knit!

A bad comination of allergies and busy life have zapped my energy to knit, yet again. In the past few weeks I've run a 5k (woo!), planted flowers, baked a bright red fire truck cake, and done a million other things, it seems. When I do have a chance to sit down and relax, I have just been zoning out in front of the TV like a big lump. What's that all about?

Tonight I have to screen a few Simpsons DVDs to pick out a good episode for my English class tomorrow (will there be one that isn't to crude and profane for me to show in my class? I don't know). I'm hoping that a fairly caffeinated cup of tea will give me the renewed energy I need to spend that time starting my sleeve increases. Only drawback is that as I add stitches, it's just going to take longer and longer to complete...
