I've got sunshine on a cloudy day!

I did it! Despite my sesame disappointment, I pulled things together on my rainy Sunday (with the help of some key DVDs) at home and took care of business!

Project specs:
Yarn: Trekking XXL, color 100
Needles: Dpn, size 1
Pattern: Wendy's Generic Toe-up pattern, in 2X2 rib, with a stretchy cast off for my cankles.

I'm SO glad that I went with a simple ribbed sock for this yarn. The colors are so great, that any pattern definitely would have taken away from it. Thanks to all the wise, experienced knitters who pointed this out to me. I still do have one issue with my sock--it's the hole in the short row heel.

Can you see it? The holes aren't really THAT big or noticeable, but it just bugs, you know? I'm considering taking some of my leftover yarn and doing a few duplicate stitches over the problem areas to tighten things up. I think that with the next pair of socks I start (probably later this week--always have to have emergency train knitting on hand) I'll have to force myself to do a non-short row heel. As much as picking up the stitches can be a pain, I'm afraid if I go on much longer I might not actually be able to do it anymore.

Those socks look cozy and warm! Great job! I just did a non short row heel and it takes SO much longer...but maybe that's because I'm uncoordinated :) anyway there's a little package in the mail for you finally (darin forgot to send it last week!!)

Those look great! Don't you love the weight of the Trekking? (To wear, not necessarily to knit...)
A lot of people seem to have that little hole problem with the short row heels. Did it happen on both socks or just one?

Dude. those look awesome! I'm knitting a pair of socks with Trekking right now and I *love* it...

And re: holes on the short rows -- I get holes too. I usually end up stitching over them as well.

Great socks! And, I really enjoy picking up the gusset stitches. That's practically my favorite part about knitting socks. Honest.

See, you're much more honest than me. I just photoshopped the holes the first pair I made! haaaa.

Those look fantastic. Really they do!

I just ended up with the same holey problem in a short row heel, though I've done it several times and didn't have that problem. I have to dig out the directions I usually use and I'll tell you what the difference is. Where did you get your short row directions from?

So nice!
In terms of sock-knitting, you are my sempai!
I have one big ball of sock yarn but never dared start - I'll let you know when I do.

Trekking XXL socks in #100 are my all-time favorite, and I still can't believe I gave mine to my mom. Yours look fabulous!

oh, they're gorgeous! love the colors. I'm not sure what the trick is for perfect short-row heels... if you find one, please share... mine have baby holes too. I think of them as design elements, of course!

So pretty!

i love them!
that yarn simply *has* to be related to the yarn i (am) us(ing) for my olympic training sock.

it's uncanny. mine isn't trekking -- it's some unknown colourway of socka.

you can get a little hole w/ dutch heels too - if you don't pick up enough stitches in the corner. just stitch it up, who will ever know.

Lovely, lovely, lovely. Wear them well!

I just adore Trekking! My first socks were made with it ;) and many others. Yours came out so well, Molly!
