Back on the felting wagon

100_19071

I finished knitting my oven mitt.  Now all I need to do is felt it.  I'm going to start the hand-felting with the test pouch on the left, but I really have no idea how to felt something without the help of a handy washing machine.  Does anyone have any tips or links to share?  Advice is welcome!

If you have a washboard or something with lots of ridges on it, rub the hot soapy wet knitted object on it.

Don't forget your soap.

I hand felted something small like the test pouch in the shower and used it as a "harsh love" loofah with lots of body soap. Turned out fine except beware the soap making your hands peel. Wear dish gloves.

really really really HOT water. and lots of agitation. i've heard use a plunger.
