Excuse me while I keep talking about Okinawa
When I went to Okinawa with my friends, I didn't just lay on the beach! Okinawa is known for it's bright, distinctively patterned fabric, and being my mother's daughther, I really couldn't leave the island without checking it out. I dragged my friend Pamela to this textile museum/workshop and it turned out to be a great place! (Mum, you would have LOVED it!!)
Traditional Okinawan handpainted fabrics
These huge rolls of fabric must take forever to paint by hand
My favorite one. I wanted to take this home! It really reminded me of my mom's molas.

Gorgeous! It would be neat to take a swatch home just to frame it.

Those are incredible! Okay, I am going to Okinawa next time I go to Japan, darn it. How much do those fabrics cost? I would guess a fortune, since they are so intricate!

Did you buy anything? I know there were some reasonably priced fabrics at the markets when I went! I wish I had seen that museum. I hope to see some skirts made out of this material by you posted soon! -SB
