It's looking like a wrap!

Today I got two packages in the mail (both that I was expecting).  The Office DVDs that I ordered finally arrived, and just as I was starting them, I got a delivery from my mom.  The next installment of 24!  But to my surprise, she also sent the Sideways DVD!  Thanks, Mum!  I'm excited because I love watching movies, and especially now that I live in Japan, I am pretty out of the loop.  I've heard of Sideways, only because it was an Oscar nominee, but I've never even seen a preview--I can't wait to watch it!

Anyway, I popped in 24 and worked on my Lucky Clover.  Unfortunately, whenever I watch that show, I end up spending half the time biting my fingernails, literally glued to the screen, so sometimes it's not great for knitting.  I still managed to tear myself away after just two episodes (oh, the self-control) to snap some progress pics before the sun went down.

It looks like the size might actually be right on, compared to this classic Gap t-shirt that I always wear.  Would it be a bad move to block these before I get all the pieces finished?  I think I might start them soon, since I have limited blocking space and I want to wear it ASAP!

I was going to watch 24 until I finished the second side, but I really had to seize the opportunity to stop the video while I still could to take some pictures, pick up my apartment and get ready for my mini-vacation tomorrow!  What, did you think I would spend all my holidays watching DVDs and knitting?*  It is Golden Week, after all.  I'll bring my sock along for the ride, but my friend told me not to forget my international driver's license so she doesn't have to drive the whole way.  Yippee!!  I can watch DVDs and knit on the weekend.

I don't know much about where we're going tomorrow, just that it's "down south" and has a famous hiking path in the mountains or something?  I'm sure there will be a bajillion tourists there, so we might just hang out at the hot springs and not do much hiking.  Fine with me!  The one thing I'm happy about is that I should be able to find some cedar blocks to protect all my winter knits from moths this summer.

Here is my dilemma:  I don't actually have anything to put said knits and cedar blocks into.  I have a huge closet, but essentially no furniture like drawers or cabinets to hold clothes.  All you knit experts out there, what are your thoughts on putting my sweaters and cedar into a suitcase?  A plastic bin?  I'm leaning towards the suitcase idea because I have two huge ones just sitting in there taking up space, even though I'm not sure what the consequences will be of having a "cedar suitcase" from now until eternity.  Plus, my plastic tubs have holes in the bottom.  Help!  Ideas?

*I will probably spend the rest of the night doing this.

block whenever you feel like it - it doesn't matter, won't hurt it, and can always be reblocked if necessary.

suitcases would work just fine. :)

Glad to hear the package arrived. Thought you'd like Sideways after your roadtrip last spring. (Has *A* seen it?)
Enjoy Golden Week!!

The wrap looks GREAT! Also looks like it requires superhuman patience... way to go! I'd put all knits and yarn in some kind of hole-free thing with lots of those cedar blocks. Not to scare you, but the only time I've ever had moth damage to my clothes was when I lived in Japan - luckily that was before I took up knitting, so they were only store-bought sweaters! (After that I bought some of those cheap plastic drawers and lots of cedar stuff for my oshiire.)

It's coming along quite lovely.

I can not knit while I watch 24. That show requires my full, undivided attention, and I am just not good enough at knitting to be able to chug along and never look at my work. Are you watching the current season? I *love* that show!!!

I don't know if they sell 2 or 2.5 gallon plastic bags in Japan but your mom can get them at Target in 2.5 and walmart in 2 gallons. Give sweaters a good washing and brushing before storing. HGTV says that most the larva is on the garmet already then hatches and they're not flying into your closet.
So I'd get them clean, put them into a plastic bag, squeeze out all air, put it in your plastic tub, then use packing tape to make it airtight. Possible advantages.
1 sweater with moths should be protected from others as long as they can't eat through plastic (they can't, can they?!!)
Airtight container for sure!
If your plastic containers are clear, you can check up on moth status more easily, and rescue anything you might need to.

Your Lucky Clover looks fantastic! Congratulations! Someday I too will finish a sweater. . . Someday!
Enjoy Golden Week, and be sure to lounge in the hot springs. Is there an onsen near your place? I really miss those...

Lucky is looking great - and can I just say, man, 24 is awesome this year. I can't knit during it either, though, or else I miss important stuff.

Look at you - good work! The Office is the funniest show ever. I downloaded a bunch of audio clips from the show and imported it into iTunes. It cracks me up to hear little quotes from David Brent in between songs.

Wish I had some hot springs to go to. Have a ball!

Just finished watching the whole Office series... I loved it so much! I hear you on 24 and knitting... it is almost impossible to do both!

Your Lucky looks fab.

oooh, the office and 24 are my two favorite shows. make sure you watch the christmas special too. your wrap looks absolutely lovely! cant wait to see it all finished, i dont see how you could possibly knit while watching 24...

clover wrap = great job!
suitcases = good idea!

Ok. No more math.

Lucky Clover looks great! I love to get packages in the mail even when I order them for myself. If they have free gift wrap I do that too...is that selfish waste of paper wrong?

I love your Lucky! I think I might try to make that myself... seems cozy to wrap up in.

You are going to have some good knitting time- great DVDs!
