Back to business

100_15751

Lucky me!  My wrap pieces are finished blocking!  They are still pinned to this mat, just kind of waiting around for the back to be finished so that I can go ahead and block it too.  I'm afraid that if I take them off of there, they were get thrown in a pile (it happens) and just have to be blocked again.  I'm ssssssslowly working my way up the back, and if I let myself watch more of The Office tonight, I'll probably be able to start the raglan shaping.  Woohoo!

Speaking of The Office, I have been watching it much faster that I'd planned.  But who knew there were only 6 episodes per season?  I am really desperate for things to watch or listen to for my knitting time.  Japanese TV is kind of frustrating because there isn't usually anything on TV that I want to watch, and if there is, I really have to concentrate really hard and don't get far in my knitting.

It's a good thing for the internet!  I think NPR is my most visited website.  I'm listening to it right now!  I like to listen to All Things Considered, Fresh Air, This American Life, and my favorite (only once a week!) Wait, Wait.. Don't Tell Me!  So much great listening, but it's just not enough.  Sometimes I just get sick of listening to news.  If only E! had online broadcasts of trashy Saturday afternoon TV marathons.  I like to listen to knitcast... but otherwise I don't have much to go on.  Suggestions?

Molly, if you have an ok internet connection and computer - you can totally download tv shows. It's certainly something I look forward to every now and again. You could also be an long distance member of the Tokyo SNB as we also swap A LOT of dvds. I'll try and get a list together, so you know what we have. We can be your netflix.

I love The Office--don't miss the Office Special which takes place one year after the show... it is great!

I love NPR too--I listen to it all day long. :)

Forgot to mention how great your Lucky looks--so pretty! I am so far behind on mine!!

You are almost there- she is so pretty! I adore that color too.

Your Lucky looks so pretty! That pattern looks intimidating to me.

How about getting Alias Seasons 1 and 2 on DVD? Excellent for knitting.

Have you already watched 24?? We just finished watching season 3 on dvd.

I love This American Life.

I also listen to audible audiobooks (but they cost $) and have been meaning to try out Pete and Geoff's morning show podcast from Virginradio.co.uk. The BBC also has a few new podcasts coming! Really excited about that. City Arts and Lectures is a great local show broadcast on a few different channels http://www.cityarts.net/radio.html and I know my local npr station kqed.org (radio section) streams them live. Wish they'd podcast it for download. They interview writers, film makers, artists, and other people more interesting than me. Another npr stream I like is Prarie Home Compaion while puttering about and doing chores.

The rest of my podcasts are all super geeky. Really.

I got into public radio podcasting from this blog post http://www.43folders.com/2005/04/podcasts_of_non.html
which lists quite a few good suggestions.

And the lovely knitcast, of course. But I fear to knit and listen at the same time lest they say purl and I suddenly start to purl in the wrong place.

Oooh oooh, I love NPR too! "This American Life" is my absolute favorite! Being kind of a grammar/language dork, I also like "Says You" (funny) and "A Way With Words" (more serious) - maybe good for when your brain is just too full of Japanese and you want to think critically about English for a change. And I just have to put in a plug for "Here on Earth" since it's produced here in Wisconsin. ;)

Lucky's looking awesome!

How about audio books? You can download them from audible.com and listen to them on your computer or an mp3 player.

your lucky looks great! downloading....was helpful..but it takes so long....it's almost like i don;t leave the 'puter on all day to download b/c when i get back, I am still movie-less

in other news...you wouldn't be interested in swapping something for a Glampyre Mini Sweater would you? I planned on making a crochet version, or attempting to *gulp* knit one. But hey...why do that if someone else can knit it for me :)

I love this american life. And I love that all their archives are available on their site, too. I highly suggest just working your way through them -- if you haven't listened to the "fiasco" show, run don't walk! It's the funniest thing I've ever heard on the "radio."

isn't the office just pure brilliance?! just wait for that final christmas episode, you'll watch it over and over again - perfect...!
becks
